    These are the medals my father, Tom, brought back from Italy. The small eagle in the lower left, often referred to as the "Ruptured Duck", was given to all service personal after the war. Tom received his lieutenant's bar's while in the reserve.
    Dad had worked as a clerk in the mail room at the pentagon before the war. At war's end, he went back to work at the Pentagon
, once again as a civilian. Dad went to school nights, eventually earning his MBA. When he retired in 1974, he was Principal Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (budget).
